Dr. Hassan Alnomani, President of Sohag University, announced the setting of the timetable for the trial operation of the surgical hospital (heart, chest, brain, nerves, bones), which was established in the campus of the old university hospital at a total cost of 475 million pounds, in addition to allocating an amount of 400 million pounds for advanced medical equipment and equipment. 120 million pounds for non-medical furniture, including office furniture and others, from the Unified Purchasing Authority, in preparation for opening the hospital to citizens in the governorate and neighboring governorates, to provide distinguished medical and health services.
Alnomani said that the hospital was built architecturally with the highest level of accuracy to comply with international quality standards, and received all its licenses, which stipulate that the building is designated for medical use in accordance with Law 19 of 2008 and its executive regulations, and in accordance with the approved engineering drawings, while adhering to the surgical code.
He added that all final preparations have been completed, as the first phase of medical furniture worth 78 million pounds has been received, and the rest of the equipment is being received.
Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, explained that the hospital has an area of 3,250 square meters and includes 7 recurring floors with a capacity of 300 beds, 8 operating rooms, 67 intensive care beds, 28 intermediate care beds, 28 dialysis machines, 145 patient accommodation beds, and 31 outpatient clinics. He added that it includes a special section for cardiac catheterization that contains 12 cardiac care beds, and 4 cardiac catheterization operating rooms.
It also includes a radiology department, physical therapy, isolation rooms, and a special unit for gastrointestinal endoscopy, as well as emergency departments, laboratories, service departments, and residential homes for doctors and nurses.
