Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, stated that the medical equipment for the Hospital of Special Surgery (heart, chest, brain, nerves, and bones) has been received in preparation for its operation during the next short period, which is being built on the campus of the old university hospital, at a total cost of 475 million pounds, in implementation of the directives of President Sisi to improve the health system that the new republic seeks to establish throughout Egypt, especially in the governorates of Upper Egypt, which have witnessed significant and tangible development during the last 10 years.
Al-Noamani stressed that the Special Surgery Hospital is part of the huge medical projects taking place in the governorates of Upper Egypt, with the aim of achieving a comprehensive development renaissance in the medical and therapeutic field in the specializations of heart and chest surgeries, brain and neurosurgery, and orthopedics, to provide a distinguished health service to the citizen at the lowest possible cost, in addition to participating in implementing presidential initiatives to eliminate waiting lists.
Al-Noamani explained that in implementation of the directives of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a timetable has been set for the trial operation, which will be implemented immediately after the completion of the supply of equipment and supplies necessary to open the hospital to citizens in Sohag Governorate and neighboring governorates, directing his thanks to the Unified Procurement Authority for the serious and fruitful cooperation and the speed of supplying the hospital’s needs by providing modern medical devices, to develop distinguished medical and health services for citizens.
Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of Board of Directors of University Hospitals, added that all the services necessary to complete the initial operation of the hospital have been completed, explaining that the contract for the medical furniture for the building from the Unified Purchasing Authority was completed in three stages, as the cost of the first and second stages amounted to 78 million pounds.
The intensive care units and operating rooms are currently 70% furnished, explaining that a number of devices were received today, including 66 monitor devices.
6 electrical operating tables, 78 respirators, 9 anesthesia machines at the highest level, 60 medical air mattresses, 3 axial ray machines, 3 central stations to monitor the vital signs of care patients, 7 defibrillators, axial ray machine for imaging conditions of the heart and arteries, the third phase will be supplied soon to include non-medical office furniture and others.
