In a new medical achievement added to Sohag University\u2019s record of medical successes, a medical team from the Otorhinolaryngology Department at Sohag University Hospital has successfully performed a delicate and rare operation to remove a middle ear hemangioma (Glomus Tympanicum) from a 47-year-old patient from Qena Governorate. The operation was performed using an otoscope, making this the first operation of its kind to be performed using this technique in Sohag Governorate.<\/p>\n
Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of the University, explained that this achievement reflects the scientific competence and high practical skills of our doctors. It confirms that we are on the right path to providing distinguished medical services worthy of the people of Upper Egypt and keeping pace with the latest treatment methods worldwide. He extended his thanks and appreciation to all those who contributed to this work, from the medical and nursing staff.<\/p>\n
From his part, Dr. Magdy El-Qady, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, stated that the operation was performed using otoscope technology, a modern technique that allows for precise visualization of the ear cavity without the need for any external surgery, thus reducing complications and speeding up the recovery period. He emphasized that this achievement represents an advanced step toward localizing microscopic ear surgeries in Upper Egypt.<\/p>\n
Dr. Ahmed Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals, noted that the operation was performed after a series of meticulous examinations, including hearing tests, CT scans, and MRIs with contrast. The tumor was completely removed under general anesthesia using an endoscope, while preserving the ear bones, facial nerve, and adjacent cerebral arteries, a testament to the medical team\u2019s high level of competence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
