The Center for Experimental Surgery at Sohag Medicine organizes a workshop on applications of intravital microscopy in liver disease research.

The Dr. Ashraf El-Badry Center for Experimental Surgery at the Faculty of Human Medicine at Sohag University organized a scientific day under the title “Applications of intravital microscopy in Liver Disease Research,” at the center’s in the services building on the old university campus.

Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Nomani, President of the University, said that organizing this scientific day comes within the framework of the role of the Center for Experimental Surgery in providing strong technical support to distinguished researchers and master’s and doctoral students to implement scientific projects and training on laboratory animals due to the presence of an animal house facility and anesthesia devices at an advanced level, while increasing the ability to publish distinguished scientific research for advanced research, especially in the field of experimental surgeries on laboratory animals.

Prof. Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of the College, said that the scientific day aims to exchange knowledge and experiences in this field, as Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ghallab, professor of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at South Valley University, was hosted to lecture on the scientific day, and he works in a research center at the Leibniz Institute in Dortmund, Germany, since 2013 in the field of vital microscopic imaging and its use in liver disease research.

Prof. Dr. Iman Abu Deif, Director of the Center, explained that the Center serves researchers in many specialized fields and allows the conduct of interdisciplinary research that brings together multiple specializations. The scientific day witnessed a turnout from researchers and faculty members from the faculties of medicine and pharmacy. The scientific day included a valuable theoretical scientific lecture on photography of  Intra vital microscopy in liver disease research. Following the lecture, a training workshop was held on intra vital microscopic imaging of the liver of experimental mice.

Dr. Sahar Muhammad Jibril, a member and rapporteur of the center, added that this is the beginning of a series of workshops and training courses that the center will hold to train researchers to perform this type of delicate surgery in laboratory animals through the advanced scientific devices and techniques that are present within the center and that are coming into effect for the first time in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
