The Center for Experimental Surgery at Sohag Medicine organizes the first training course on
“the basics of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery”
The Experimental Surgery Center “Dr. Ashraf El Badry Center” and the Department of General Surgery at the Faculty of Human Medicine at Sohag University organized the first training course entitled “Basics of minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.” From 24-26 December 2024.
Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Nomani, President of the University, said that the training course aims to exchange experiences and knowledge and prepare a doctor with a high degree of competence and skill in this field, as it included coverage of the theoretical academic aspect, as well as practical training within the center, using a set of devices and machines to simulate laparoscopy using surgical laparoscopes. Prof. Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of the College of Human Medicine, explained that the training course included several lectures that discussed everything related to the use of surgical endoscopy, including the basics of its use, how to apply it, and precautions for use, in addition to discussing the latest medical findings in the field of surgical endoscopy.
For her part, Prof. Dr. Eman Abu- Deif, Director of the Center, explained that the training course was organized within the Center, as it contains distinguished research units, and is equipped to train young surgeons from various surgical departments through operation simulation technology using computers and display screens, and the lecture hall accommodates a number of trainees. Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Suyuti, Head of the Department of General Surgery, stated that the training course lasted for three days, and was attended by an elite group of professors from the department. Six resident doctors from within the department and a doctor from outside the university were trained in a number of techniques and multiple surgical tasks using various laparoscopic tools. Doctors were trained inside the operating room to complete the training course for two weeks so that trainees can apply the basics of surgical laparoscopy to cases in a correct, practical manner.
Dr. Sahar Muhammad Jibril and Dr. Abdul Rahman Jalal, the course coordinators, added that this course is the beginning of a series of workshops and training courses that the center will hold during the coming periods to train doctors on surgical intervention using laparoscopes, as well as other experimental surgical operations and the transfer and transplantation of organs in laboratory animals from During the experimental surgical unit on laboratory animals.
