
Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of Sohag University, stated that a medical team in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University Hospital succeeded in saving the life of the child Adam Ahmed, 8 years old, from the city of Tahta, after he was injured while playing with a large metal nail that penetrated the chest wall and settled in the right ventricle of the heart, with significant bleeding around the heart.
This surgery is considered one of the major operations that require high precision and skill to perform.
Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, explained that the child was immediately admitted to the operating room and an urgent surgery was performed to explore the chest, extract the metal screw, drain the bleeding, and repair the hernia in the right ventricle.
The child completely improved and was discharged from the hospital five days after the surgery.
