Under the leadership of a political awareness of the value of the citizen and his health, with the guidance of the President of the Republic within the Presidential Project “Hayat Karima” … The Faculty of Medicine at Sohag University launches a comprehensive medical and developmental convoy to the most needy places in the governorate … Where the Community Service and Environment Sector at the Faculty of Medicine in cooperation with Hayat Karima Foundation organized a medical convoy to the village of Al-Diabat in Akhmim Center on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 to sign free medical examinations for the non-able-bodied residents. These medical convoys come in light of the social responsibility that Sohag University bears towards the governorate to help the residents of areas that cannot afford the costs of examination and treatment. These convoys are implemented under the auspices of:

  • His Excellency Prof. Dr. Hassan El-Nemany, University President
  • Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel-Latif, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environment Development
  • Prof. Dr. Majdi Al-Qadi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine
  • Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fathy El-Nakhas, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environment Development

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Majdi Al-Qadi, stated that the convoy included 12 specialties: (Internal medicine, orthopedics, children, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ENT, urology, dermatology, digestive system, psychological and neurological, speech, thoracic)

853 patients were examined, and free medication was dispensed to them. In addition, 52 cases were referred to university hospitals to complete the necessary examinations and surgical interventions.

Four awareness-raising workshops were held on population issues and the importance of family planning by:

  • Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fathy El-Nakhas, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environment Development
  • Two colleagues from the College of Nursing, namely Dr. Amany and Dr. Hind
  • Dr. Alaa Jamal from the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine
  • Dr. Hagar Ali from the Department of Family Medicine
