Prof/Mustafa Abdel-Khaleq, President of Sohag University, stated that a specialized medical team from the Department of Orthopedics at the University Hospital succeeded in performing a surgical operation to fix a fracture of the second cervical vertebra for a young man, through surgical intervention.
Prof/Abdel-Khalek said that this surgery is considered one of the most dangerous spine surgeries and it requires accuracy and high skill in performing it.
Prof/ Osama Rashad Al-Sharif, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Human Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospital Board of Directors, added that the patient came to the hospital after suffering this serious fracture after falling from the palm tree.
Dr/Hamdi Saad, Director of the University Hospital, explained that after conducting the necessary examinations and rumors for the patient, it was found that there was a fracture in the second vertebra of the cervical spine, and he needed urgent surgery, as this fracture posed a danger to the spinal cord and the patient’s life.
