The New Sohag University Hospital receives more than 38,000 patients and performs 8,277 surgical operations during the past 3 months of 2024

Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, announced that according to the official statistics of the Medical Registration and Statistics Department at the New University Hospital for the year 2024, the total number of people visiting university hospitals reached 38,720 thousand patients, and 8,277 surgical operations were performed during the past three months, from February to May 2024.

Dr. Hassan Al-Numani stressed that a major breakthrough had occurred in the level of development and modernization of the university hospitals in their old and new headquarters, which contributed to the provision of free treatment services with distinguished medical specifications, as the efficiency of the infrastructure was developed and raised, which included many departments and units in the university hospitals, through self-financing and donations from external parties, in addition to completing the Cardiothoracic Surgery Hospital and Shifa Children’s Hospital, stressing the improvement of medical services provided to all citizens in Sohag Governorate and neighboring governorates, overcoming all urgent problems, improving the level of medical services provided and developing the method of their performance.

From his part, Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, said that the report indicated that the number of people visiting the new university hospitals in the period from 2/1/2024 to 4/30/2024 amounted to 27,607 patients, including 9,461 patients in the General Surgery Department.

7,342 patients in the Department of General Internal Medicine, 3,376 patients in the Department of Orthopedics, 2,083 cases in Pediatrics, 1,305 cases in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in addition to receiving 990 cases in the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat, 861 cases in the Department of Ophthalmology, 649 cases in the Department of Vascular Surgery, and 621 cases in the Department of Urology, 232 cases in the Department of Plastic Surgery, in addition to 221 cases in Oncology, 214 in the Department of Neurosurgery, 133 Cardiothoracic Surgery, 50 Pediatric Surgery, 15 Cardiac Care, 11 Pediatric Care, 12 Tropical Medicine and Digestive System, and 10 Diseases,Chest diseases, 9 neurological and respiratory diseases, 8 skin and venereal diseases, and 4 cases in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery.
