
A specialized medical team in the Department of General Surgery, Oncology and Endoscopy at Sohag University Hospital succeeded in performing an urgent surgical intervention that saved the life of a 50-year-old Palestinian patient, coming from Ramallah, who was suffering from an advanced malignant tumor in the colon and transverse colon.
Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany, President of the University, confirmed that in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, university hospitals are providing all forms of medical support to our brothers in Palestine, and full medical care for critical cases until they fully recover.
The university hospital’s commitment to providing medical assistance reflects confirmation of its humanitarian and service role.
Dr. Magdy El-Qadi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the University Hospital, explained that the patient was admitted to the Department of General Surgery, Oncology and Endoscopy in an emergency and critical condition, as the tests showed the need for urgent surgical intervention to save her life, and a medical team was immediately formed to successfully remove the tumor.
Dr. Ahmed Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals, explained that the surgical operation to remove the tumor was successfully performed, while preserving the vital functions of the intestines, noting that the patient’s general condition is stable, and she is now undergoing close follow-up in the post-operative care department.
Dr. Alaa El-Siouti, Head of the General Surgery Department, stated that the medical team was formed under the leadership of Dr. Mina Zarif, Professor of General Surgery and Oncology Surgery, and included Dr. Michael Ashraf, Assistant Lecturer, Dr. Adel Ashraf, Dr. Abdullah Abu El-Majd, and Dr. Kyrollos Moharab, resident doctors, in cooperation with the nursing and anesthesia team.
The patient’s family expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany for his interest and follow-up of the patient’s condition and for providing all medical care to her.
They also expressed their gratitude to the medical team and the hospital administration for providing the medical and humanitarian service that made her feel as if she were among her family in Egypt.
