Starting work in the MRI unit at the new Sohag University Hospital will be extended for an additional 6 hours

Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, announced the extension of the work period in the magnetic resonance unit at the new university hospital, to 8 p.m., starting tomorrow, Sunday, January 21, with an additional 6 hours, due to the increasing demand from citizens for the services provided by the unit, and the reduction of waiting lists for an MRI service.

From his part, Dr. Magdy Al-Qadi, Dean of Faculty of Medicine, explained that the work of the MRI unit has been extended until 8 pm throughout the week for visitors from abroad, except for holidays, and that the unit is operated on Saturdays until 2 pm for patients detained internally, based on the decision of the Board of Directors, adding that the aim of extending the work period for an additional 6 hours is to meet the increasing demand from citizens to obtain service at a nominal fee compared to the prices of service outside the hospital.

Dr. Ahmed Hamed, Director of the New University Hospital, said that the cost of service fees is estimated at 420 pounds, which is paid through treatment decisions at the expense of health insurance for employees or at the state’s expense for non-employees, or in cash for those wishing not to issue decisions.

Dr. Muhammad Zaki, Head of the Radiology Department, said that the unit receives 40 cases daily, and it is expected to reach more than 70 cases after extending the work period, pointing out that the new MRI device, with a power of 1.5 Tesla, gives a high-quality image, and can perform a complete examination for all body parts in less than 60 minutes.
